100k Character Cap vs 1000k Stash.... not sure how you can miss this as intentional.

The 100k character cap is because Anet used to think that no item should be worth more than 100k.
The 1000k stash was a later addition to the game, probably after the devs saw people trading things for massive amounts of money.
It IS intentional that these caps exist, but trading high-end items for larger chunks of coin necessitated the use of ectos as alternative currency.
The problem is ectos are not a stable commodity and therefore some sort of purchasable alternative would be useful.
However, the current system has worked out for several years and honestly this would be a meaningless addition in a game that's no longer the development focus of the company.
Make do with what you have. Seriously, don't you people have an SF whine thread to go start?

Cash cap is no an issue to be solved. Is an intentional mechanic.
Now, instead of just replying again. Wait and think about GW trading is meant to work and why is that cap there.
If you don't agree with the cap, you haven't though enough, and you should wait and think more.

Winner.
If a.net wanted to "work around the cap" they would just remove it, not add some stupid tradable 5 platinum bar or something.

Thinking about it, I do see a downside to my own idea.
If it was implemented, all the people with stacks of ectos would then unload them onto the community, increasing the supply of a market with already low demand, and ecto would plummet even further than it already has.

So? What makes this a problem if they're not on the commodities market anymore?

Why not just ask for the gold cap to be removed.
What a stupid suggestion to have trading impliments besides gp.
Anet, please consider removing the gold trading and storage cap so us greedy players who feel it's our job to horde gold and other valuables in the sake of just wanting to do something because we have done everything and are bored.
I mean that would be the easiest solution and would take the minimal amount of time to impliment, however the draw back would be that ectos would fall back to 300gp, since they would no longer be required for trade.
so in conclusion, Anet please lose the cap, and let us horde, and when GW 2 comes out, won't matter anyway, right?

Use Zaishen Keys instead of Ectoplasm. You can't remove the gold cap, it's a security risk. Anet also has no reason for a trade medium because everything in game from merchant requires no trade medium. They want you to be creative and interact with people, you also learn how to bargain.

Good idea as it isnt going to move around and has no risk of changing price.
Almost makes me think they should just up the storage money cap though if they would do this.

for this since it would be a lot easier to remove the 100k cap.
/signed
for removing the 100k cap but since it hasn't been changed all these years it will probably never happen.

Also, this allows those uber rich ubers to stuff a whole lot more gold into their accounts, especially if said statues stack.
The only problem is that it would require half a brain depending on the value. The only ones that would really be worth while are the 100k ones -- because no one's going to want to say "Okay your total comes to 4 Plat stats, 3 gold stats, a bronze..."

If anet thought the trade cap was a bad idea they would remove the trade cap. BTW we already have lockpicks which are a constant value item that are pretty easy to resell.

If you would have read my opening post, I said ZKeys are possible, but like every other available commodity to use as a trading medium, they can fluctuate in price.
It's like, if you worked for a company, and they paid your salary in stock in that company, and you were never allowed to sell it, you had to purchase everything just using the current value of that stock.
I don't see why Anet wants to keep the trade limit, people shouldn't be forced to take risks if they have over 100k.

It was made as a security because of gold farmers. As I said before there is nothing you purchase from a merchant in game that costs over 100k so for them to implement this just to make it easier on the wealthy would be pointless. I've made 100k+ trades before and it's not that big of a deal to slap ectos in there. In fact those have always fluctuated along with Z-keys.

Limit on trades and max gold you can carry is intentional, discussed at length earlier. Motion to close?

I can't just /sign or /unsign, this idea is highly debatable and far from obvious.
Personally I would love to have this in game, even 1 kind of items like that would be great, I would turn at least 50% of wealth into those. I'd choose 100k one as most suitable - few people would ever need to keep more than 1 stack of those.
The idea is effectively removing any limitations on stored gold. Actually it's easier and more convenient this way than upping the pure gold limits a character or Xunlai can hold. (we don't know how they organized the data storage and network packets for character or trade data, but we can be certain a 1 new item with set properties like buy and sell price is possible and easy to do)
What would the change affect:
Secondary currencies - no more need for them! This change would affect Ectos the most, they would be just a crafting material, no different than Shards. Because of that their price would be much less stable, it would much more quickly adjust to supply and demand changes. At current rates of overfarm their prices would drop to rock bottom real fast.
The investing market - What people who have more than 1 million gold have to do now if they want to further increase wealth? They have to invest. This update would mean they could just sit on a huge pile of platinum never having to invest, investing would become purely optional, not as a mean of storing wealth but only for speculation.
Gold selling companies would LOVE this much more than I would - Remove the need for having 50+ accounts used just for gold storage, instead use just a few established old ones in good standing.
Also, those stackable money would be best duping target imaginable. Not that duping is a serious problem anymore, but preventing of possible exploits ruining whole game's economy was probably one of reasons for implementing limits in gold holding.

This would only benefit players trying to sell rediculously over priced items.
